The Lions Club Recycle For Sight Campaign launched May 1st and Blood Ties fans were ready to go. With over 100 early pledges at youchoose.net, we are excited about the number of glasses donations BT fans will make over the remainder of May.

Melissa Wilson has written an article on FireFox News about our Lions’ Club glasses drive. In the article, Ms. Wilson states that Blood Ties is still on the bubble at Lifetime, which is good news. Many have been afraid the series was canceled. Mention is also made of our united efforts with the Moonlight Fans.

We thank Ms. Wilson and FireFox News for publishing this article and helping promote our glasses drive.

Tanya Huff, author of the “Blood Books” on which Blood Ties is based, has honored our efforts by posting our press release on her LJ site (http://andpuff.livejournal.com/147983.html). The lead character of the Blood books, Vicki Nelson, suffers from retinitis pigmentosa and was the inspiration for this campaign.

We sincerely thank Ms. Huff for helping to spread the word about our Recycle for Sight campaign.

In a show of Vampire Solidarity, the fans of Blood Ties and Moonlight are uniting their efforts. All Blood Ties fans are being asked to support the Moonlight Blood Drive and Give Blood To Save A Vampire. At the same time, Moonlight fans are being asked to pledge to donate glasses for the Blood Ties Fans Give Back Lions Club campaign.

This combined effort is the result of a collaboration between the sponsor of the Blood Ties Fans Give Back  Drive and the sponsor of the Moonlight Blood Drive. Both drives are being hosted on the YouChoose site and can be accessed by the links below.

The Blood Ties Fans Give Back Lion’s Club drive officially runs for the month of May, but why wait to kick things off. While the logistics are being worked out, let’s see if we can’t get some momentum going by collecting pledges for glasses donations.

I’ve been talking with Christine from the Moonlight Blood Drive. We are working to see how we can combine our efforts to benefit Moonlight’s Blood Drive and our Lions Club campaign. I’ll let you know once the details have been worked out.

I am excited about combining our efforts to help both shows. I personally have not heard of 2 fans bases uniting their efforts before, and that may be a story in itself.

Both these shows are so well done and have established such loyal & dedicated fans. We need to be sure to get these shows back for another season.

I got a response form the Lions’ Club, so we now have a contact to work with. Now comes the hard part, the logistics ! I have let them know we have generated interest from fans internationally and will need to plan for the donations accordingly. It may take a little time, but with patience, we will get this all together. Will let you know when I get more news

Well, it seems the idea this idea has taken off. I have contacted the Lion’s Club PR Department to get some information on how to properly proceed and will let everyone know what I hear back. There seems to be international interest in this promotion, and the Lions Club is an international organization, so this seems a good fit.

May will be the month for collecting the glasses. This is the Lion’s Club’s “Recycle for Sight” month and hopefully we can can some much deserved attention for Blood Ties. We will be accepting prescription glasses and sunglasses, NON_PRESCRIPTION sunglasses and reading glasses. Surely, everyone has an extra pair of sunglasses they can donate.

I have modified the LC’s Press Release for our pruposes and will post when all details are final. If you know any media contacts we can use, PLEASE, send them to me!
